Jerome Roberts

Everyday I've been struggling through my 4 mile runs but yesterday I started thinking about how thankful I was to have healthy legs to run on, a healthy back to support me and a healthy heart. I found out before spring break that a friend of mine and Jon's from the dorms has be diagnosed with a rare disease called Focal and Segmental glomero-sclerosis of the kidneys and Non Segmental Cardio Myopathy of the heart at just 22 years old. The doctors said that his case was mild and gave him a list of foods and things he should avoid and he should be fine. However, I recently found out that his case has gotten worse and is now in the hospital waiting for a heart and kidney transplant and he is not doing very well. I can't believe that one of my friends is going through this, he's one of the best people I've meant while being down at school. This makes me so sad to know he has to go through this. His name is Jerome or JT and he is such a good and caring person. It is just like him to have a positive attitude about the whole situation, people around him say that he's been joking around that he's gonna get a new heart like Tony Stark (Ironman). So I would like all of you to pray for my friend and keep him in your prayers. Thank you.

Easter

Jon and I went home to Tualatin to spend Easter with my family. Everyone was there after a Skype call to Stacy... she got to sit on the piano and talk to all of us. Also Josh's sister Cathy, her husband Glen and Leslie came over to spend Easter with us as well. It was fun to have them there and to get to know them better! Megan and Leslie were fun to play with and of course wanted Jon to play as well. After dinner, Tami was so sweet and make Jon a birthday cake! We all sang happy birthday to him, including Stacy (notice her in the background on the piano lol). Of course Megan had to sit on Jon's lap and help blow out the candles!

Jon's number one fans!

April 15th

April 15th to most people:
1. Tax Day
2. The day the Titanic sank in 1912
3. The day Abraham Lincoln was shot in 1865

April 15th to me:
The day that my other half came into this world in 1987.... that's what this day will always mean to me and a day I will always be thankful for

Jon turned 22 last Wednesday and believe or not after three years together it was the first actual birthday we got to spend together! So I wanted to make the most of the day. We woke up early and I took him to breakfast at Glenwood and then coffee at Starbucks before we both headed off the class. After class, I showered him with presents. Jon's Mom Caryn and little sister Stephanie were in town for a college tour of UofO so we got to hang out with them in the afternoon. We all went out to dinner together at a little Italian restuarant called Mazzi's and it was delicious! After dinner we hung out with some of the lacrosse boys to celebrate the day. I don't have documentation of the day but I think it was a pretty good day!

PS. Caryn if you have any pictures I'd love to have some!

Oregon vs Oregon State

Today was the lacrosse civil war up in Portland. It was a perfect day to watch a lacrosse game it was beautiful! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us today, we really appreciate it! Among the people who came today were Jon's parents and little sister, my mom and dad and the Vanvalkenburgs. I think the person most excited for the game was Megan, she was so excited to see Jon. Kristie got Megan all "duckifed" and she looked adorable! It was so much fun to have my family there and I'm so happy that they came out.

Beautiful day at the field... just starting
Megan and Aunt Kelly

Go Jon!The VanValkenburg Family... all ducked out
Megan and Grandma

Megan and Mommy
Jon at last... big hugs!
She just wanted to be held... and that meant even climbing fence
So happy to see Jon. Megan was also entertained by Caryn's duck call (Jon's Mom)

Future Laxer??... I think so

The Ducks won 14-6. Jon had 1 goal and 4 assists. He had quite the fan section today and afterwards we all went out to dinner. I'm glad that Jon's family came down for the game, it's always fun to see them and spend more time with them.

Blazer Fever

Jon and I have been really getting into the Blazer fever that seems to be sweeping the Portland/Eugene area. I have always been a huge blazer fan, ever since my daddy started taking me to games when I was a toddler. In fact going to Blazer games with my dad are some of my favorite childhood memories... love you dad! I use to know every player by name and number from the Rip City era... back in the glory days. Gladly I think the Blazers are finally returning to the team they use to be good riddance Jail Blazers! Also, Jon has returned to his Portland roots... now that the Sonic no longer exist. Anyway, Jon and I have been going with some of the lax games to watch some games at Rennies. Well here are a couple pictures...so cute.

Too bad we lost tonight but.... we'll get em.
